El Nino is associated with increased rainfall across the east-central and eastern Pacific and drier than normal conditions over northern Australia and Indonesia. El Nino tends to produce more Eastern Pacific hurricanes and less Atlantic hurricanes.<br /> <br />In Times of El nino we should see a calmer hurricane season, however this is not always the case.<br /><br />The Impact on farmers in parts of the USA will be positive, whereas for farmers in Australia and India the effects could be devastating as they have been with El nino in the past.<br /><br />A strong El nino could last around a year or so and can occur every three to seven years.
